This market and technical potential study will help ComEd to develop a plan to improve energy efficiency in small and medium commercial buildings by identifying smart control technologies with the greatest energy-saving potential and best suited to meet the needs of these customers.

Small and medium commercial buildings make up the vast majority of commercial buildings in the United States and currently most do not have control systems in place to manage their operational energy. However, the market for small business-focused control technologies is growing. The goal of this project is to analyze the small commercial building energy efficiency technology market and identify smart control technologies that have the greatest potential to provide cost-effective savings. The project team will also conduct market research to understand the needs and barriers of small commercial customers and inform an implementation strategy and program design for the identified smart control solutions.
